ONLINE GAMBLING ADDICTION PREVENTION STRATEGY FOR MINORS BASED ON LEGAL AND SOCIOLOGICAL APPROACHES

The rapid development of information technology in the era of globalisation has brought significant impacts, including the emergence of online gambling as a form of gambling that is easily accessible to all groups, including children and adolescents. This research aims to identify strategies to prevent online gambling addiction in minors through a legal and sociological review. Online gambling has the potential to become addictive because it can be accessed anytime and anywhere and is often presented with attractive and tempting displays. Data shows that the number of online gambling victims in Indonesia reaches 2.37 million people, with 80,000 of them being children under 10 years old. The negative impacts of online gambling include mental health disorders, social problems, and family economic losses. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach to understand the phenomenon of online gambling and its prevention solutions. The results showed that parental supervision, education about the dangers of gambling, and stricter law enforcement are important steps in preventing online gambling addiction. Collaboration between the government, community, and family is needed to create a safe environment for children from the threat of online gambling. This research is expected to provide valuable recommendations for all parties facing this challenge and for a better future for the younger generation
